Living the Christian life means growing in holiness, daily repentance for daily sins - for that is what it means to know Jesus better, and all he’s done for us.

We cannot be God’s people without the Spirit, we need him within us to enable us to walk and live as children of God – in step with the Spirit.

We need Jesus – we need that daily rhythm of coming to him and going with him. It’s like breathing.

The gospel is for talking and for walking. It brings God great pleasure when he sees us using and growing in the life that he’s given us.

Together with God we can overcome all opposition: Nehemiah shows us we do that by working hard while trusting in God’s strength.

I don’t want to be like a hardened, dry sponge – I want to be soaked in the Spirit of God, I want to overflow with his life and love.

I don’t want to be stuck as Birth Ben – I want to be Born Again Ben – made new and transformed day by day by the Spirit.

Living a different life has two sides: giving up and turning away from the world’s way, then taking up and turning towards God’s way.

Will we respond to Jesus like Simeon: with open arms? Can we learn to be open to the Spirit’s nudges?

God has given us everything, all we need in Jesus so let’s – together – build carefully and one day share in the joy of our true master builder.
